Since 1922 Frank's 1922 have been perfecting the art of Italian ice cream making and pushing the boundaries of perfection. Their latest push sees the launch of a purpose-built gelataria and innovation lab to enable them to develop new products and allow the public to experience and taste this first hand.

Sauro Architects were enlisted to help see this dream become a reality, pairing an ambitious project with an ambitious built. Just like the Frank's story which combines tradition with innovation, traditional materials such as slate have been combined with modern technology such as the groundbreaking 2nd floor, which projects colour-controllable light throughout to thematically change the look of the building. A modern bottom floor combines various aspects of practicality with modern style to achieve the unique brief.

This incudes a unique viewing area enables visitors to see our development team in action, including their vast range of skills and latest in ice cream technology, and will also allow for fun interactive classes for people of all ages.

Aesthetics are carefully considered, with the use of beautiful finishes such as terrazzo and carefully considered lighting and signage to provide a customer experience perfect for social media sharing.

And of course, a dining area allows for customers to sit down, relax and enjoy Frank's products in a social and fun environment.

Outside the build is framed with gorgeous landscaping, providing the perfect foodie destination and one that's sure to become a favourite Welsh tourism hotspot.
